Miramax Acquires Jennifer Aniston’s “Baster”

Miramax Films has acquired North American rights to Mandate Pictures’ romantic comedy “The Baster” reports Variety.

Based on a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides, the story revolves around friends Wally (Jason Bateman) and Kassie (Jennifer Aniston), whose plan to have a baby on her own is complicated when Wally secretly swaps Kassie’s chosen sperm donation with his own.

Jeff Goldblum and Patrick Wilson (“Watchmen”) have also joined the cast.

Wilson will play the genetically superior sperm donor that Kassie originally selects. Goldblum will portray Wally’s boss.

Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (“Little Miss Sunshine”) are producing, while Allan Loeb penned the screenplay.

Will Speck and Josh Gordon (“Blades of Glory”) direct the project which begins shooting Monday in New York.
