FOX’s upcoming “Minority Report” has recast the twin Arthur in the upcoming series sequel to the 2002 Steven Spielberg film adaptation of the Philip K. Dick short story.
Stark Sands remains onboard to play the lead of Dash, one of the three Precogs from the first film who are now living normal lives ten years after the end of Precrime in Washington. Dash remains haunted by visions the future and meets a detective (Meagan Good) haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose for his gift.
The other two precogs were Samantha and Dash’s twin brother Arthur, and Sands was originally set to play Arthur as well. Digital effects have made one actor playing multiple roles a far easier technical feat these days, most notably in BBC America’s “Orphan Black”.
However, FOX has now decided to enlist Nick Zano (“Happy Endings,” “The Final Destination”) to play Arthur, and they can get away with it as the characters will be fraternal twins rather than identical. It does mean that scenes from the pilot will need to be reshot though.
In the series, Arthur is the opposite of Dash thanks to being brought up with a hard shell forged by years of a difficult upbringing. He now uses his gifts to consolidate personal wealth and power.
“Minority Report” is still on track to premiere September 21st on FOX.
