First Pixar, now Universal is also pushing its next animated feature out of the 2014 calendar.
Illumination Entertainment’s untitled Minions film, a spin-off of the “Despicable Me” series, has been delayed from December 19th 2014 to July 10th 2015.
The studio previously had an untitled Illumination movie in the July 2015 slot, that film will now open February 12th 2016.
The delay means the studio won’t have an animated film next year, putting Universal in the same boat as Pixar who also won’t have a new animated film out in cinemas next year.
On the upside, the Minions film will open in the same July slot as this Summer’s “Despicable Me 2” which has become one of the year’s biggest hits with an incredible $840.5 million so far in box-office revenue.
