Following a scene-stealing turn as serial killer Edmund Kemper in Netflix’s “Mindhunter,” actor Cameron Britton is headed to the big screen with a key role in “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” for Sony Pictures.
Fede Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe”) helms the follow-up to “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and serves as a minor reboot of the franchise. Claire Foy (“The Crown”) takes on the role of hacker Lisbeth Salander alongside Claes Bang (“The Square”) as the villain and Sylvia Hoeks as Salander’s twin sister.
Alvarez, Jay Basu and Steven Knight wrote the screenplay based on the David Lagercrantz novel. Britton will play a close associate of Lisbeth — a computer expert to whom she reaches out when she needs assistance.
Scott Rudin, Amy Pascal and Elizabeth Cantillon will produce. Filming begins in January in Berlin and Stockholm ahead of an October 19th 2018 release.
