Mimi Leder (“Deep Impact,” “The Peacemaker”) will direct the WWII-set biopic “Remember Their Names” says Variety.
Reuben Leder has adapted Jim Longhi’s memoir “Woody, Cisco & Me” about young merchant marine’s 1943 tour of duty alongside Woody Guthrie and folksinger Cisco Houston. Longhi eventually became an attorney, politician and playwright.
Guthrie’s tunes are a big part of the story, as the trio sung and played their way across the Atlantic and Mediterranean to Sicily and then Normandy. Shooting on the film will take place in New York and Sicily.
