Rawson Marshall Thurber (“we’re the Millers,” “Dodgeball”) has been hired to direct the spy comedy “Central Intelligence” which is now set up at New Line.
Ed Helms is attached to star and executive produce the project which Thurber will also re-write. The previous script was worked on by the likes of Ike Barinholtz, Dave Stassen, Peter Steinfeld, Sean Anders and John Morris.
Dean Parisot was originally slated to direct the film when it was at Universal, but Helms’ commitment to “The Hangover Part III” shut down the project at the time. New Line acquired it only recently.
The “Chuck”-esque scenario has Helms playing an accountant whose reconnecting with an old friend through Facebook throws him head first into the world of international espionage.
Scott Stuber, Peter Principato and Paul Young are on board as producers.
