Last week 20th Century Fox finally confirmed that the “Deadpool” sequel is moving forward and that Tim Miller would return to direct. Speaking with Collider this week, Miller also confirmed his return and that the writers are working on the script right now so he can’t discuss any potential story points.
He does go on to say that despite the first film’s success, 20th Century Fox is not rushing him to get the sequel out fast or to meet a release date:
“None of the times that have been under discussion have made me go, ‘Oh no, you’re going to make me do something horrible just to meet that [release date].’ They want it to be great, and they’re giving us the time to make it great.”
Speaking about his aims for the sequel, he says he wants the villain’s motivation to be clearer than they had for Ajax, and he wants to do a better job of “making it feel like a bigger world” with more establishing shots to add some scope to the film.
In related news, Fox has revealed the special features that will arrive with the first film’s DVD and Blu-ray when it hits stores on May 10th. Showing off the list in a very Deadpool way, the press release was an infographic containing various notes from the sarcastic masked mercenary character.
