Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana and Elle Fanning have scored the lead female roles in Ben Affleck’s upcoming film adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel “Live By Night” at Pearl Street and Appian Way.
The Boston-set Prohibition-era story centers on Joe Coughlin, a man who rebels against his cop father and becomes a career criminal. He soon rises up the mob’s ranks as the action moves to Florida and then Cuba. The story also includes rumrunners, femme fatales, betrayals and plenty of sin.
Miller will play the girlfriend of Joe’s mobster boss. Saldana is a woman he meets when he becomes involved in organized crime in Tampa. Fanning plays a sheriff’s daughter and aspiring actress who gets into trouble.
Affleck had originally planned to direct it a while back but put aside those plans to play Bruce Wayne in the upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. He’s expected to direct the film immediately after wrapping that role.
Affleck, Jennifer Killoran Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio will produce.
