Miles Morales, Sneeper May Be In Marvel Films

Two creations of Marvel comic fandom may be making the jump to the big screen after previous indications were neither would make it.

First up, the alien race the Sneeper. “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn revealed last month that he had to run each alien race and character name he wants to use in the films through the Marvel legal department for clearances.

One such one he tried to use for the upcoming ‘Guardians’ sequel was Sneeper, but couldn’t because according to the studio’s mavens ‘sneeper’ is also a “word for clitoris in Icelandic”. That was that it seemed until a new Facebook posting today by Gunn says Marvel revisited the idea and have cleared it for him. Here’s the news:

Sneeper update. A couple weeks back I told you how the Marvel legal department advised against using Sneeper as an alien…

In related news, with the hiring of Tom Holland as the new Marvel-approved on screen version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, it looked as if fans hoping to see the modern ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ version of the character – Miles Morales – were out of luck.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies about Cop Car though, new “Spider-Man” reboot film diretor Jon Watts was asked by Yahoo if, despite Holland’s casting, could the Miles Morales character still be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Instead of a straight up ‘no,’ his answer suggests it’s not only possible but something may have already been planned along those lines: “I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.”
