Mike Newell (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) will direct a new film version of John Masefield’s classic 1930s children’s novel “The Box of Delights” for Brilliant Films reports Variety.
The story follows a boy entrusted with a magic box that allows him to travel through time. Frank Cottrell Boyce (“Millions”) is adapting the script.
Sarah Radclyffe, Courtney Pledger and Esther Douglas are attached to produce. Newell is currently completing post-production on “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”.
The property was previously adapted into a BBC TV series in 1984.
