Mike Could Return In “Better Call Saul”?

“Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan recently talked about the upcoming spinoff series “Better Call Saul”. Gilligan himself previously labelled the show “both a prequel and a sequel,” but he now gives EW a more definitive description of the show’s time setting:

“[Showrunner Peter Gould and I] think, by and large, this show will be a prequel, but the wonderful thing about the fractured chronology we employed on Breaking Bad for many years is the audience will not be thrown by us jumping around in time. So it’s possible that we may indeed do that, and we’ll see the past and perhaps the future.”

Gilligan says one major challenge with the show is finding the drama in Saul himself because the character is “very comfortable in his own skin” which makes things difficult because “a character that at heart seems at peace with himself is intrinsically undramatic.”

He was asked which “Breaking Bad” characters he would like to have back and could fit into the story in a logical way:

“The character that springs to mind would be Mike (Jonathan Banks). That would be a great deal of fun. I would say the sky’s the limit, at least theoretically speaking.”

Gilligan also went on to say that one major regret he had from “Breaking Bad” was how unrealistically perfect meth-head Jesse Pinkman’s teeth were.
