Though he’s been seemingly locked in for weeks now, Marvel and Netflix today made it official – “The Good Wife” and “Halo: Nightfall” actor Mike Colter is officially set to play Luke Cage in both “Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones” and “Marvel’s Luke Cage” TV series next year.
In an official statement, Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, says: “Fans have longed to see Luke Cage … and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor. Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in ‘Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones,’ and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”
Colter will make his debut in ‘Jessica Jones’ which aims to begin production shortly ahead of a late 2015 release on Netflix. Colter will then headline his own Netflix series which will likely premiere sometime in 2016.
In ‘Jones’, Krysten Ritter’s retired superhero turned New York City P.I. character encounters the enigmatic Luke Cage, a man with secrets that will dramatically alter her in ways she could never have imagined.
