Michelle Williams is pursuing one of the three lead roles in the long-gestating film adaptation of Claire Messud’s “The Emperor’s Children” says The Wrap.
The story focuses on three Brown graduates in their late 20’s struggling to make something of themselves in the Upper West Side in the months before and after 9/11.
Williams would likely pursue the role of Midwestern television documentary producer Danielle Minkoff, though reps would not confirm.
The film originally was to be directed by Ron Howard several years ago. He’s now serving as producer with Noah Baumbach (“The Squid and the Whale”) stepping up to serve as writer and director.
Keira Knightley, Eric Bana, and Richard Gere all recently signed onto the project.
