Michelle Rodriguez will join Viola Davis and Cynthia Erivo in “Shame” and “Hunger” writer/director Steve McQueen’s movie remake of Lynda La Plante’s 1983 British mini-series “Widows”.
La Plante, who also created the iconic “Prime Suspect,” created the story which starts when three robbers are killed during a failed heist. Their widows and one other woman team up to pull of the armed raids that their husbands failed at. A loose remake was done in 2002 for U.S. television.
McQueen is co-writing the film with “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn. Rodriguez will next be seen in “The Fate of the Furious” in April.
