Michelle Rodriguez has quietly signed onto the adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s famed manga “Alita: Battle Angel” which is being directed by Robert Rodriguez and written and produced by James Cameron.
Alita tells the future-set story of a cyborg girl (Rosa Salazar) rescued from a junkyard by a scientist (Christoph Waltz) who rebuilds her and together they explore her mysterious past.
Rodriguez will play cyborg warrior Gelda. She joins the previously announced cast that also includes Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein, and Keean Johnson.
Shooting on the project recently wrapped and will hit cinemas on July 20th. The actress previously worked with Robert Rodriguez on both “Machete” films and with Cameron on “Avatar”.
