“The Green Hornet” film project is alive and kicking with word today that acclaimed helmer Michel Gondry (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Be Kind Rewind”) is set to direct the film for Sony Pictures says Variety.
Seth Rogen plays the title character, and Stephen Chow is still very much set to play his sidekick, Kato. Rogen wrote the script with Evan Goldberg and Neal Moritz is producing this new incarnation of the crime fighter from 30’s radio and 60’s TV.
Gondry came up with a presentation that excited production presidents Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach who’ve been looking for a director since Chow bowed out of that particular job.
The project, which will be the most overtly commercial film of Gondry’s career, remains set for a June 25th 2010 release date.
