Pop star A.J. Michalka (“The Lovely Bones”), Kevin Connolly (“Entourage”), Margo Martindale (TV’s “Mercy”), Eric Lange (TV’s “Lost”), Drew Roy (“Hannah Montana”) and former senator Fred Thompson have all joined the cast of “Secretariat” for Disney Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
The Randall Wallace-directed picture follows the horse’s owner Penny Tweedy (Diane Lane), a housewife who broke though a gender barrier to usher Secretariat to greatness and win the 1973 Triple Crown.
Thompson will play a master horse breeder and one-time horse-racing league president Bull Hancock. Michalka will play Lane’s daughter; Connolly will play a sportswriter.
Martindale will play a veteran executive secretary who assists Lane through a dark time, Lange (“Lost”) will portray real-life sportswriter Andy Beyer, and Roy (“Hannah Montana”) will play Thompson’s son.
