Michael Shannon is everywhere these days, appearing in a range of films from “Man of Steel” to “Nocturnal Animals” to “Midnight Special” and beyond. The actor automatically lends weight to any project he’s in and often steals scenes out from many other great actors.
Those hoping to see him in a big Disney blockbuster however, it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon. During a recent interview with Fandango, Shannon was asked if he would ever want to join a Marvel or Star Wars movie. The actor revealed in fact he’s been offered them but has turned it down:
“No, I’m not really looking for that. They called me recently about some iteration – I won’t say – but some version of a movie that’s been made already countless times. They were gonna give me a lot of money, but I was like nah. Big movie, too. But I have to think it’s an interesting story. If I don’t, I can’t do it. I won’t do it.”
Shannon wouldn’t elaborate which was the specific project in question, though the best guess so far has been the role of Vulture for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” which ultimately went to Michael Keaton. Shannon is also hardly short of work with eleven credits to his name this year alone.
