“Heat,” “The Insider” and “Public Enemies” director Michael Mann is developing another biopic, this time about renowned war photographer Robert Capa for Sony Pictures says Variety.
The story will concentrate on Hungarian refugee Capa’s torrid two-year romance from 1935 to 1937 with fellow photographer and Jewish refugee Gerda Taro.
The outbreak of the Spanish Civil War a year later began Capa’s emergence as the most renowned war photographer ever and established Taro as the first frontline female battle photographer before her death at the Battle of Brunete.
The studio has also acquired Susana Forte’ Spanish-language novel “Waiting for Robert Capa” which Jez Butterworth will adapt. Mann himself will produce.
