Michael Fassbender (“Shame,” “X-Men: First Class”) is in early talks to star in “Miss Bala” helmer Gerardo Naranjo’s romantic drama “The Mountain Between Us” for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment reports Variety.
Based on the novel by Charles Martin, the story follows two strangers who survive a plane crash in the Colorado woods and are forced to rely on one another for survival, eventually falling in love.
Fassbender would play a doctor and avid climber who uses his skills to transport an injured writer down a mountain in harsh weather.
J. Mills Goodloe penned the script while Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping will produce.
Fassbender, who will next be seen in “Prometheus” in June, is also signed for Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” and Steve McQueen’s “Twelve Years a Slave”.
