Michael Bay looks to have set up his next two directorial efforts which will be “6 Underground” and the long in the works “Robopocalypse” adaptation.
“Deadpool” scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese penned “6 Underground,” an action film based on an original idea of theirs with Bay, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger producing for Skydance. Plot specifics are under wraps but filming begins this Summer for a Summer 2019 release.
Bay will then reunite with Steven Spielberg for the film take on Daniel H. Wilson’s sci-fi novel “Robopocalypse”. That story is set after a robot uprising and at one point had Spielberg himself attached to direct and Chris Hemsworth to star.
Scheduling conflicts forced Spielberg to keep pushing it off, so the handoff to Bay is not unexpected as Spielberg handpicked Bay to direct the first “Transformers”.
