MGM has come to a multi-year deal with Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Her,” “American Hustle”) with the former set to distribute the latter’s work in select international territories.
The partnership begins this year with Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Detroit riots project due for release in the United States on August 4th to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the riots. The film is the first that Annapurna’s new distribution division will release domestically.
The MGM deal will include films produced by Annapurna Pictures covering a footprint comprised of but not limited to Germany, Scandinavia, Latin America, Central Europe, Pan Asia and the Middle East. The deal will include the theatrical, home entertainment and television rights in such films.
