MGM has secured feature film rights to Classic Media’s “Where’s Waldo” character reports Variety.
Martin Hanford’s books revolve around a good-natured, bespectacled character who has a knack for blending into crowds. The job of the reader is to find him amidst the large crowds in massive pictures of a crowd scenes.
The books have sold more than 55 million copies. The plan is now to turn the property into a live-action family adventure with global appeal. Paramount and Universal previously attempted to develop films based on the books but were unable to get them working.
