MGM Moving On “Child’s Play” Remake

After four years in development hell, the proposed reboot of the “Child’s Play” franchise is back in action according to Horror Bid.

The first film in the series belonged to MGM, while the subsequent sequels were owned by Universal, thus if the project were to go forward a deal for the rights would have to be sorted out.

Now the site claims said issue has been resolved with MGM taking control and production kicking off later this year.

Brad Dourif is expected to return as the voice of Chucky in this film which avoids the comedic tone of the sequels and intends to be a very dark film, darker than the original film it would seem with some notable twists of previously well-known sequences.
