MGM Hops Onto “Tomb Raider” Film Reboot

MGM has confirmed it is teaming with GK Films for the upcoming cinematic reboot of the “Tomb Raider” franchise.

Development will begin immediately, though casting has yet to be announced. GK Films acquired the film rights to the property from Square Enix Ltd. back in 2011.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released a high-profile reboot of the “Tomb Raider” video game franchise earlier this month, introducing a younger 21-year-old version of British archeologist Lara Croft.

The story showcases how she started out as a frightened young woman who is forced to become a hardened survivor when she is shipwrecked on a dangerous island.

This film is expected to follow the same style. Graham King will produce.
