MGM is set to produce a $25 million remake of the 1980’s musical classic “Fame” for next Summer says The Hollywood Reporter.
The original Alan Parker film followed a group of students through their four years of studies at a New York high school of Performing Arts.
The film was so successful is spawned a global television series and international stage show, whilst the Oscar-winning title song remains one of the most recognisable tunes of the past few decades.
Casting has not yet begun, but the plan is to retain many of the musical elements of the original movie including some of the songs. MGM has hired a writer and director for the project but offered no further details.
