Hollywood seems to have found a new fertile ground for its movie adaptations – British mini-series.
Already acclaimed works like Martin Campbell’s 80’s sci-fi thriller “Edge of Darkness” and Paul Abbot’s 2003 political scandal drama “State of Play” are getting American film remakes due for release this year.
Now, Sony Pictures is bringing last year’s time-traveling Jane Austen drama “Lost in Austen” to the big screen reports Variety.
Jemima Rooper, Elliot Cowan and Gemma Arterton starred in the original mini which centered on Amanda, an ardent Jane Austen fan, lives in present day New York with her roommate, until she finds she’s swapped places with Austen’s fictional creation Elizabeth Bennett.
The show’s original writer, Guy Andrews, is penning the screenplay while Sam Mendes is aboard as producer.
