Melee Entertainment and producer Shariff Hasan (“Next Day Air”) are developing a film about jerkin’, no not masturbation but rather the currently hot hip-hop dance trend says The Hollywood Reporter.
Though the form of dancing originated in on the streets, jerkin’ has a specific political ideology of providing positive anti-gang messages to inner city kids and rebels against hip-hop stereotypes in unexpected ways (eg. jerkin’ kids wear skinny jeans, not baggy)
Initially starting in South California, the movement has spread worldwide and already has bands cashing in on the trend such as New Boyz. Producers are currently in talks with writers to get their story takes.
Hasan, Bryan Turner, Scott Aronson, Mike Regen, Todd Moscowitz and Mike Mavrolas are producing the film.
