Mel Gibson is reportedly being courted to direct the “Suicide Squad” sequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Him taking the helm of DC Comics sequel is far from a done deal though as talks are only in early stages with no formal offer made let alone a commitment.
Gibson is reportedly familiarizing himself with the material at present, but Warners is also looking around with Daniel Espinosa, Jonathan Levine and Ruben Fleischer currently seen as alternate candidates.
The news comes as the “Hacksaw Ridge” helmer has been confirmed to join Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the sequel to the 2015 comedy “Daddy’s Home”.
Gibson will play the father of Wahlberg’s character opposite John Lithgow who is also onboard as Ferrell’s father. Sean Anders and John Morris are returning to pen the script with Anders again directing.
