Meet The Trio Of New “Heathers”

Jasmine Mathews, Brendan Scannell and Melanie Field have been cast as the three new Heathers in TV Land’s upcoming series remake of Daniel Waters’ 1988 cult black comedy film.

Newcomers James Scully and Grace Victoria Cox take on the role of J.D. and Veronica in the film which deals with the social order in high school. At the top of that order are the three Heathers: Heather McNamara (Mathews) who is a black lesbian, Heather Duke (Scannell) is a male who identifies as gender-queer and whose real name is Heath, and the frumpy Heather Chandler (Field).

Written by Jason Micallef (“Butter”), the single-camera comedy hails from producers Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi. Filming on the pilot is expected to begin this Fall with Leslye Headland (“Sleeping With Other People”) on board to direct.
