Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie and “Invictus” scribe Anthony Peckham have signed on to the drama series “The President Is Missing” at Showtime.
Based on the novel of the same name by best-selling author James Patterson and former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the story follows a powerless and politically aimless Vice President who unexpectedly becomes President halfway into his administration’s first term.
He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by everyone, he is confronted with a terrible choice: tow the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn conscience and take a stand.
McQuarrie, Peckham, Clinton, and Patterson will executive produce while Peckham will write the adaptation. Heather McQuarrie, Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout will also executive produce.
