McNamee To Lead Shark Film “Meg”

Australian actress Jessica McNamee (USA’s “Sirens,” “The Loved Ones”) has been announced as the female lead opposite Jason Statham in the long-gestating film adaptation of Steve Alten’s 1997 prehistoric shark novel “Meg” at Warner Bros. Pictures, Flagship Entertainment and Gravity Pictures.

In the film, an international underwater observation program comes under attack by an unknown danger with their submersible disabled at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Statham will portray a former naval captain and expert deep-sea diver who’s recruited for a likely suicide mission – even though years before he faced the same predator – an ancient shark known as a Megalodon – who forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) is also on board the film which Jon Turteltaub (“National Treasure”) will direct. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Belle Avery and Colin Wilson are producing and the film is targeting a March 2nd 2018 release.
