McG is in negotiations to helm the long-in-development “Hunter Killer” for Relativity.
Based on Don Keith and George Wallace’s novel “Firing Point,” the story follows an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue Russia’s president, taken prisoner during a military coup. The two sides team to stop a rogue Russian general from igniting World War III.
The project was originally going to team filmmaker Antonie Fuqua and actor Gerard Butler, but the pair eventually departed and made “Olympus Has Fallen” instead.
Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing from a script by Jamie Moss, John Kolvenbach and Arne Schmidt. McG just wrapped “3 Days to Kill” for the company.
