McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “Terminator Salvation”) is set to direct “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo” for Walt Disney Pictures reports Variety.
Scripted by Bill Marsilli, the film is an origin story of Nemo as he creates his warship the Nautilus. The characters come from the Jules Verne novel which Disney famously adapted in an Oscar-winning feature starring Kirk Douglas and James Mason back in 1954.
Likely to be McG’s next project, he’s nabbing a cool $8 million against 7% of gross. He’s also in discussions to supervise development and direct the next installment of “Terminator” for Warner Bros. Pictures.
The family film is being fast tracked by the studio and production is hoping to commence filming later this year.
