McFarlane On Family Guy Film

With “The Simpsons” making its way to the big screen, it’s no surprise that “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane was asked this week about his hit animated Fox comedy show taking the same route.

“We have been trying to figure out how to do that and the series at the same time without the series suffering,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. One solution he suggests is to have Ricky Blitt, an ex-writer on the show, start on the movie script.

In any case there are no story ideas yet, Fox would have to sign off on a film project as well, and it would take several years even if things moved forward right away.

When it does, don’t expect huge hijinks – “I don’t want to do ‘The Griffins must save the world,'” he says, opting to find a small story about the Griffin family that can be explored in a feature-length film.
