CBBC Newsround reports that British actress Helen McCrory will play Narcissa Malfoy in the upcoming film adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”.
Narcissa is sister of Bellatrix Lesrange (Helena Bonham Carter) and mother of Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Interestingly enough, McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in this year’s “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” but had to pull out due to an impending pregnancy.
McCrory is an acclaimed stage, screen and film actress who’s works include such films as “Interview with a Vampire,” “Charlotte Gray,” “The Count of Monte Cristo,” and “Casanova”.
She was last seen playing Cherie Blair, wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, in last year’s much-lauded “The Queen”. She’ll next be seen opposite Daniel Craig in “Flashbacks of a Fool.”
The sixth “Harry Potter” installment opens in theaters on November 21st 2008.
