Melissa McCarthy has confirmed that she will reprise her role of Sookie St. James in Netflix’s forthcoming four telemovie revival of the “Gilmore Girls” franchise.
McCarthy revealed the news on yesterday’s episode of “Ellen,” saying that her return had only just been worked out before her appearance on the program. Her involvement was previously uncertain due to her complicated filming schedule:
“Literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I’m gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing. [Creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino is going to squeeze me in to do it and I’m very happy to go back to Stars Hollow. Oh my gosh, there’s me and Lauren [Graham]. I’m just really excited about that. So it just happened and I got asked a lot about it, and as of not even two hours ago, it’s happening.”
McCarthy marks the last of the major cast members to be confirmed as returning, the only other exception being the now deceased Edward Herrmann whose absence will be sorely felt.
