McAvoy, Fassbender To Do More “X-Men”?

With the contracts for the ‘First Class’ cast members of “X-Men” about to finish up with the currently shooting “X-Men: Apocalypse,” there’s been questions regarding where the franchise might go next.

Would it reboot again? Would it shift away from the main mutants and focus on some of the younger faces introduced in ‘Apocalypse’? Turns out it might be sticking to its current formula a bit longer.

Heroic Hollywood reports today that the franchise’s two key male stars, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, have apparently signed on to continue in their respective roles of Magneto and Professor X in more “X-Men” movies.

The site suggests their deal closed over the weekend, right about the same time Channing Tatum’s Gambit deal was done, but it doesn’t say for how many more films. Both Fassbender and McAvoy have previously expressed interest in returning but weren’t committed either way, and there’s no confirmation from either the studio or representatives in the HH report.

The studio would no doubt like Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence back as Beast and Mystique, though Lawrence seems unlikely to commit at this point.
