HBO has reportedly offered Rachel McAdams the lead female role in the second season of “True Detective” and Variety indicates she’s locking down the role right now.
McAdams would join the currently confirmed Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in the series, with the fourth lead role expected to go to Taylor Kitsch. McAdams appears to have beaten out the likes of Jessica Biel and Malin Akerman for the role.
The main issue has been one of scheduling with McAdams about to start the Catholic Church sex scandal “Spotlight”. In the past day or so, a deal has apparently been worked out so the actress could do both projects.
Justin Lin is set to direct the first two episodes of the HBO drama’s second season which revolves around three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
