“Maze Runner” Helmer Tackling Next “Apes”

Maze Runner Helmer Doing Next Apes

20th Century Fox and Disney have reportedly set “The Maze Runner” director Wes Ball to develop the next iteration of the “Planet of the Apes” franchise.

The project is said to be very early in the works and it’s not clear yet if this will be a remake or continue on from the events in Matt Reeves’ “War for the Planet of the Apes”.

The original film series began in 1968 and spawned five films, followed by the 2001 Tim Burton-directed reboot and then the 2011 “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” kicking off a new trilogy which grossed $1.68 billion worldwide.

Ball’s “Maze Runner” trilogy of films grossed just under a billion at the worldwide box office.
