20th Century Fox and producer John Davis have hired rising scribe Max Landis (“Chronicle”) to pen a script for a new take on the “Frankenstein” tale says The Hollywood Reporter.
Vulture adds that this version will tell the tale through the eyes of Igor, Victor Frankenstein’s assistant. Davis, son of John Landis, will obviously produce. This is yet another version of the tale in the works, joining a half dozen in development.
They include Guillermo del Toro’s remake of the 1931 Universal film adaptation, Summit Entertainment’s adaptation of Kenneth Oppel’s “This Dark Endeavor”, Stuart Beattie’s adaptation of “I, Frankenstein”, Ghost House Pictures’ adaptation of Peter Ackroyd’s novel “The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein”, Guns n Roses guitarist Slash’s comic adaptation “Wake the Dead”, and Sony Pictures’ contemporary re-telling from a pitch by Craig Fernandez.
