Max Brooks, the author of acclaimed zombie political anthology novel “World War Z,” is set to pen the first book in a series of “Minecraft” novels that will reportedly hit shelves soon.
Publishing house Del Rey is behind the books inspired by Mojang’s legendary game title which is also getting a film adaptation that’s currently targeting a 2019 release.
Brooks’ novel, “Minecraft: The Island,” is described as “a cuboid Robinson Crusoe, but madder: a hero stranded in an unfamiliar land, with unfamiliar rules, learning to survive against tremendous odds.”
It’s not yet known when the book will be released or if it will have ties to the film but it is the first of several. “Minecraft” the game meanwhile is now supporting VR and will get a special ‘Education Edition’ which will hit shelves on November 1st.
