“Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “X-Men: First Class” helmer Matthew Vaughn has signed on to direct and produce the film adaptation of Terry Hayes’ 2014 espionage thriller novel “I Am Pilgrim” for MGM and MARV Films.
Hayes, best known as a screenwriter of such films as “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior” and “Dead Calm,” penned his debut novel which became a big hit last year and which MGM sees as a potential franchise.
The story follows the adopted son of a wealthy American family who once headed up a secret espionage unit for U.S. intelligence.
Now in anonymous retirement, he is called upon to lend his expertise to an unusual investigation. He ultimately becomes caught in a terrifying race against time to save America from a cunning terrorist.
Lloyd Braun is production and shooting kicks off next year. No word on how this will impact the production of the “Kingsman” sequel.
