Matt Damon may team with “Almost Famous” filmmaker Cameron Crowe for his next project “We Bought a Zoo” at 20th Century Fox says the trades.
An adaptation of a memoir by Benjamin Mee, the story follows a man who used his family’s life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo in the English countryside.
Mee and his children had to balance caring for his terminally ill wife and dealing with all the related animal issues including readying the zoo for a reopening. Damon is in early talks to portray Mee
Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the original script adaptation which Crowe has been rewriting to reflect his sensibilities. The project marks Crowe’s first film since 2005’s “Elizabethtown” and is already slated for a Xmas 2011 release. Julie Yorn produces.
