Mass Effect Gets A Movie

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have scored feature film rights to BioWare’s hit video game franchise “Mass Effect” according to a press release from Electronic Arts Inc.

The epic science fiction series takes place in the year 2183 and follows Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy who leads a team on a mission to defeat an ancient alien race that invades the galaxy every 50,000 years, wiping out all organic life.

The second game in a planned trilogy hit this past January and scored rave reviews all over the world. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Thor) is in discussions to draft a screenplay.

Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Avi and Ari Arad will produce.
