In one of the least surprising bits of news this year, EW has confirmed that a future episode of the second season of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.EL.D.” will tie in with the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” next year.
The new ‘Avengers’ film hits May 1st in the United States, meaning the events will have an impact somewhere around the third or fourth last episode of the season.
The first season saw its eighth episode tie in to “Thor: The Dark World”, a crossover that scored poor reviews. Later on, a multi-episode arc (#16-18) tied back to events in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” with those episodes considered the highlight of the first season and a major turning point for the show.
Executive producer Jed Whedon says there will be some impact: “You should expect something. The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we’re included in that.”
Executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen adds don’t expect as large a shake-up as last year: “I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did, but there will be connections.”
