The Marvel Studios Comic Con panel is now underway in San Diego and the event is doing what was widely expected it would do – it unveiled the official ‘Phase 4’ line-up of films.
Second on the list was “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and stars Tony Leung (“Infernal Affairs,” “In the Mood for Love”) as The Mandarin (the real one) who is expected to be the father of the title character.
Shang-Chi himself will be played by Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu who screen-tested only last Sunday and was cast this past Tuesday. Awkwafina also stars.
Inspired by the wave of 1970s kung fu films, the comic followed a master of fighting who eventually gains the ability to create an infinite amount of replicas of himself. No word on if the film will include this ability.
Chinese-American scribe Dave Callaham penned the script for the film which Destin Daniel Cretton is helming. Kevin Feige is producing.
“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will premiere February 12th 2021.
