Marvel Television’s senior VP of original programming, Karim Zreik, has confirmed that the company is developing a new female-centric Marvel show with ABC.
Appearing at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, he says “It’s Jessica Jones-esque” and that “we want to target different audiences, and not just comic book fans” as opposed to the more male-centric audience of “SHIELD” and planned family audience for “Inhumans”.
The company is also keen to get into series with a funnier side: “Comedy is something we really want to go into. It took us time to dip our foot in the comedy pool.” He did add that the company will “never do an office comedy.”
Marvel now has fourteen series on the air or on the way.
