Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at the San Diego Comic Con kicked off with two of the less talked about but most interesting of the projects in production – Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther” and Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok”.
First up, “Black Panther” brought out its key cast members and confirmed a full list of who is involved and in what roles. Along with Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther himself, there’s Michael B. Jordan as the villain Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia who is now an agent of Killmonger, and “The Walking Dead” Michonne actress Danai Gurira as Okoye who was a wife-in-training for the King of Wakanda.Filming begins in January 2017 ahead of a February 16th 2018 release.
Then there’s “Thor: Ragnarok” which had no-one show up as filming is vin full swing in Australia. Director Taika Waititi didn’t leave people empty handed though, making a mockumentary that reveals Thor’s whereabouts while the other Avengers were bickering during the events of ‘Civil War’. Some behind-the-scenes shots were shown including one FX shot – that of Hulk jumping at the gigantic fiery face of Hela (Cate Blanchett), while the fiery villain Surtur is also reportedly there.
Logos for both films have also been revealed. Check them out below:
