The rule for any movie studio at San Diego Comic Con is simple – go big or go home. If you don’t have the goods to show, don’t bother turning up as the convention has long stopped being a place to show off your wares unless you have something to really wow the crowds – otherwise you’re wasting time.
With that in mind the likes of Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures and Paramount Pictures are all skipping out on Hall H presentations this year. It is said Sony and Paramount simply don’t have suitable material to promote, while Marvel is big enough to have its own special fan events these days.
That doesn’t mean nothing will be happening though with Disney doing a “Star Wars” panel, Lionsgate giving a big push for the final “The Hunger Games,” Fox likely to do some “X-Men” related promotion, and Warners slated to do its big “Batman v Superman” and “Justice League” panel amongst others.
This year’s Comic Con runs from July 9th-12th at the San Diego Convention Center.
